So, what can we expect from the second installment of Marvel’s Doctor Strange? We’ve got the cast and director’s bios, but are we getting too much of Wanda Maximoff and Michael Stuhlbarg? Or are we getting too much of Elizabeth Olsen? Read on to find out. After all, we’re excited about the sequel! So let’s hope that Marvel doesn’t disappoint us!
Wanda Maximoff
As the main antagonist of the first Doctor Strange film, Wanda Maximoff is back in the sequel. After losing her children in WandaVision, she goes full-on villain. She uses her dark hole to tap into chaos magic and has been killing countless people, including the Illuminati and a variant of the Doctor Strange sequel. However, her motivation for being so ruthless is mainly unknown, so we will probably never know if she is a real villain.
Wanda has endured a rough couple of years. She’s appeared in the Avengers movies, received her spotlight with Disney+’s WandaVision series, and even appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness movie. However, as she has become more of a ruthless villain, her role has become less compelling as she’s gone from being the character of responsibility and control.
Michael Stuhlbarg
After signing a multi-picture deal with ICM, actor Michael Stuhlbarg assumed an expanded role for the upcoming “Doctor Strange” sequel. However, his role is small in the “Multiverse of Madness.” This may result from extensive reshoots, as he filmed more scenes than the film’s final cut. In any case, the role would not violate his contract.
In the comics, the character of Dr. West was a central one of the MCU. Stuhlbarg’s role was crucial for setting up the universe, and his performance was excellent. While he was not in the role of the titular superhero, his performance helped ground the series. Likewise, he may be given a bigger role in a sequel. And who knows? Maybe we’ll even see Stuhlbarg in a Marvel movie one day.
Mark Anthony Brighton
A few days ago, it was confirmed that Mark Anthony Brighton would return to the MCU to star in the Doctor Strange sequel. He will play the twin brother of Daniel Drumm, a character who Kaecilius killed in the first film. The casting of Brighton in the sequel is exciting news for fans who enjoyed the first movie. The sequel will also be the first MCU movie with a black-and-white cast.
It is rumored that Derrickson will return to direct the sequel. The first film’s writer, C. Robert Cargill, has already completed the screenplay. He has previously said that he would like to cast the character Nightmare as the villain in the sequel. Brighton, who also plays the mysterious Brother Voodoo, is a possible choice to play this villain.
Elizabeth Olsen
Elizabeth Olsen is back with another new movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Despite some scathing criticism, Olsen has defended the MCU and her role as Wanda Maximoff. The actress recently admitted losing some quality roles in the MCU but said she would consider playing a different character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actress also said she would be interested in a standalone Marvel TV series.
The actress is excited to be returning to the Marvel Universe, and fans are already discussing the role of Scarlet Witch. While many fans have wondered about the role of the Scarlet Witch since the first film, it’s clear that the actress is eager to play the character and wants to live up to fan expectations. Olsen also shared her excitement on social media. Unfortunately, while we’re excited to see Elizabeth Olsen’s new role, we’ll have to wait a few more months to see the movie’s release date.
Captain Carter
The first Avengers movie was a success, and fans are already clamoring for a sequel, Captain Carter in Doctor Strange. The film introduced the Illuminati, a secret society of heroes from different universes, which will be a huge part of the sequel. The sequel will also feature Patrick Stewart’s character, Charles Xavier, and Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter. However, the plot is still uncertain, and the sequel is currently developing.
A Captain Carter variant would be brought to the present, working for SHIELD, and would be summoned to be a part of the Multiverse’s Guardians. They would join the fight against the evil villain, Infinity Ultron. It would also feature other Avengers characters, including Star-Lord T’Challa, Post-Apocalyptic Black Widow, Strange Supreme, and Party Thor. In the sequel, the original Captain Carter would be reunited with her old colleagues, and the team would reassemble the Guardians of the Multiverse to defeat Infinity Ultron and save the universe.
